Giving Back Is Part of Our DNA

January 12, 2020

Founder and Managing Director of AMA, Ben Lukey, says: “We’re aware that many people out there are struggling. Supporting charities we know directly impact and help people and causes gives us a great sense of pride. It really is the least we can all do.”

Here’s a round-up of the charity work at AMA over the past year and the causes we are proud to support.

Laptops for Learning

With every child having to adapt to home schooling over the past year, we took it upon ourselves to donate eight laptops to local school children from the Ad Meliora Trust academies across Norfolk. It was heartwarming to receive letters of thanks from the children over the past few weeks, as well as local dignitaries. We are still supporting the trust on an ongoing basis. If you or anyone you know would like to donate a laptop, do not hesitate to get in touch with our team. We would be happy to arrange.

23 Foundation: Supporting Vulnerable Young People

Over the years, our charity work at AMA has included supporting Jamie Carragher’s 23 Foundation, drawing on our founder’s love for Liverpool FC and the surrounding area. Jamie founded the 23 Foundation in 2009 to ‘help give local kids a chance,’ offering support to sick, disabled, and disadvantaged children across Merseyside and the wider world.
Jamie Carragher recently commented on the support the foundation receives from AMA, saying: “The 23 Foundation Charity has been in operation now for 11 years. Our aim is to help as many good causes as possible and in that time we have annually supported over 1000 families, many food banks, hospitals, and cancer units. Quite simply, our charity would not exist without key donors and supporters such as AMA. Their support has been invaluable over many years, in helping our charity to fulfil its objectives.”
As well as donating to the 23 Foundation, we organise fundraising events such as auctions, where items including signed football shirts can be bid upon.

CRASH: Fighting Homelessness and Hunger

Homelessness is another issue that the AMA Waste team is passionate about addressing. Through our charity work at AMA, we collaborate with CRASH, the construction homelessness charity, to create amazing community spaces for those in need, from hospices to foodbanks.
Food poverty is another cause we regularly support. The AMA Waste team donates to Manchester Foodbanks and Fans Supporting Foodbanks to help those who might be in need during the Covid-19 crisis and beyond.

ORCA Foundation: Putting Sustainability First

Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do at AMA Waste. It’s a key focus of our charity work at AMA, which is why we partnered with the ORCA Foundation. This organisation works tirelessly to clear the ocean of plastic waste, helping to save wildlife and protect marine ecosystems.

Give Back to Your Community

As you can see, charity work at AMA is something we all feel passionately about. We are always looking for more organisations to support. If you have a cause in mind, don’t hesitate to get in touch with a member of our dedicated team—we’d be happy to hear from you.
